Since the end of winter, we haven't seen a lot of moose around here. A few days ago though, I spotted two of these beautiful animals. I had my camera with me, and, despite the fact that they were rather far away, managed to capture them quite nicely.
At first, I only saw the kviga - a female animal born last year. She had seen me, too, and kept a good watch on me.
Not much later, mother moose showed herself. Here you can see mother and daughter together, just before they took of to the woods.
It probably won't take long before the big cow chases away her little one for good. Normally, at the end of May or the beginning of June, she will give birth to her new offspring, and well before that moment, she will cast away last year's calves. It may seem cruel, but Mother Nature has decided that this is the best.
