Slowly, very slowly, Mother Nature begins showing her colours. And although it is nothing but a faint reflection of what we will see when spring really starts running wild, it is oh so lovely.
A blooming Mezereon plant - Daphne mezereum. This shrub - which is very rare in this area - blooms in early spring on the bare stems. Later, the plant grows berries which are very poisonous to humans and most animals. Only a few bird species are immune to the poison and can eat he berries.

In sheltered and sunny places, the grass is starting to grow now, too.
